Jeff buys most of his plants from nurseries here in the Pacific Northwest. I've listed a few of his favorite sources and provided links to the ones with web sites.

Walden West Hosta at 5744 Crooked Finger Road, Scotts Mills, OR 97375. (503)873-6875 or (503)873-3515. This is the home of the Abiqua hyrids. They have a large selection of hostas. They also sell unnamed seedlings from their collection at bargain prices.www.waldenwest.com
Heirloom Old Garden Roses at 24062 NE Riverside Drive, St. Paul, OR 97137. (503)538-1576. They have a wonderful selection of David Austin English roses, their own hybrids, and tons of old fashioned roses. They all come on their own roots in little 6" deep pots. Their display gardens are well worth a visit.www.heirloomroses.com
Collector's Nursery just North of us in Battleground at 16804 NE 102nd Ave, Battleground WA 98604 (360)574-3832. Their web address is www.collectorsnursery.com. They have monthly open houses in the summer. Its a great source for unusual shade plants.
Heronswood Nursery LTD, 7530 NE 288th St. Kingston, WA 98346-9502. These guys travel to China and all over the world in search of rare plants. We've mail ordered a few unusual vines from them. Their web address is www.heronswood.com
Joy Creek Nursery, 20300 NW Watson Road, Scappoose, OR 97056. This is a great place to visit, they have a wonderful mature shade bed using large Rhodys as the canopy that is worth the trip just to see. Its a good source of hard to find perennials.www.joycreek.com

Jeff's  Gardening Tips
As I mentioned earlier Jeff is a big believer in giving a plant a worthy hole. He digs a 2ft by 2ft hole for most plants and fills them back in with 1/2 composted manure mix. He usually plants own root roses in a 5 gallon pot for the first year and then transplants them to the bed after they've had time to develop a good root system. Spraying roses is a must. Jeff uses Banner Max, he gets better results than with Funginex. Jeff favors David Austin's English Roses and other shrub roses. We have only a few florabundas and no hybrid teas. The English roses he usually plants in groups of three of each variety about eighteen inches apart for a nice impressive show of color. A final tip, take garden pictures early in the morning or on an overcast day so the colors are bright and don't wash out.

A Note from Esther, The Webmistress
All the pictures on this site were taken with a Kodak 260 digital camera and edited in Adobe Photoshop. I used Adobe Pagemill to create the site on an iMac. For the lettering I used Photoshop and an elusive Arts and Craft font that I finally located at The P22 Type Foundry. The graphics are from Corel Print House. The Javascript was created with Adobe Imagestyler. Visit my web design site at PixelMama.com
